What children need.

If you are raising children, then you absolutely want the very best for them.  This includes helping them develop to the very best of their capacity. Raising your youngster to discover appropriate nutrition habits is good, because if they start practicing healthy habits early in life, they have a good grounding to continue practicing wholesome habits for the rest of their lives. There are several things to take into consideration when giving your child suitable nutrition. They include consuming fresh food, and taking care that there are no toxins added to the child’s diet.  It is always important to keep well educated about the best foods for optimal nutrition.  The best food will give a child the best chance of having a healthy, intelligent life.

Be aware of unhealthy additives.

You don’t want them to consume foods which have a lot of additives added to them.  If you are buying packaged foods, then read the labels carefully, and know what the ingredients are.  The best option is always to go fresh, and make a healthy meal yourself.  This means you buy fresh meats and vegetables, it’s the best strategy to develop a wholesome body, you can also   include good frozen items.  Some tinned vegetables are also ok, just make sure you check the label for any additives which are not healthy.

Be careful with fish products which may contain mercury.

Some fish accumulate high levels of mercury in their flesh.  Mercury is quite toxic to everyone, but particularly to young children who are actively developing.  Despite the fact that fish is a very good source of protein, just make sure that it is sourced from a clean environment.  Take particular care when buying tinned fish, read the label carefully.

Digestion problems.

If you notice that your child is complaining about digestive difficulties, ie abdominal pain or feeling sick, then it may be a good idea to get them checked out for gluten sensitivity. They may also have other food sensitivities, so always take their symptoms seriously.

The importance of vitamins.

Maximum childhood growth can only result from a good balanced diet complete with a range of essential water and fat soluble vitamins.  Ideally vitamins are obtained from the fresh food we eat, but sometimes it is necessary to add a supplement.  Supplements are particularly important in areas where weather reduces the availability of fresh foods.

Protein.

Proteins are the building blocks of our physical body.  They are made up of amino acids which we get from the food we eat.  The body can make  proteins from the amino acids that we eat.  A growing child needs a good source of clean protein in their diet, preferably from an organic source. Organic means that there are no chemicals used for the production of the food.  It is possible to add protein into your diet plan with meats and fish, beans and nuts

Essential fatty acids.

Essential fatty acids, which include omega-3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, are extremely important for good brain development and function.  The brain consists of about 70% fat, hence the need for a diet rich in healthy fats.  All the nerves throughout or bodies are surrounded by a sheath of fat, the myelin sheath.  This sheath acts as insulation so that the nerves are isolated from each other.  Salmon and sardines are a good source of fatty acids.  Foods that supply the nutrients for healthy brains are going to help children when they go to school.

Breakfast.

Breakfast is definitely the most significant meal of the day, so be sure to feed your young children a good balanced breakfast every morning. A good breakfast includes protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, some fruit and lots of pure water.  Therefore, a balanced diet of pure, unprocessed food will supply children with a slow release of energy throughout the day.

Parents responsibility.

As a parent the best thing you can do, is teach and show children how important proper nutrition is for a healthy life ahead.  Good food choices lay the foundation for a life free from illness.  Unprocessed food directly from the garden or a local farm, will supply children with the best nutrition, for a long and happy life.  It is also important that they learn about good food from a very early age.  Good food in means happy, well adjusted children, who also enjoy being and learning at school.
